Oh welcome back to another episode of finding fertility today in honour of the fertility Food Programme being live ready for you to jump in and really get on the right track to finding the perfect fertility diet for you. I'm going to talk about the top three reasons your fertility diet might not be working. The first reason why your fertility diet quote unquote, might not be working right now. Or you might not feel it's working, other than not seeing a positive pregnancy tests. But maybe you're still having gut issues or skin issues or any other kind of symptoms that are kind of normal in society. But when you really think about it, you shouldn't be having day in day out. It might seem a little bit obvious, but I know this is one of the things that happened to me is that the diet that I was on, so I went on a paleo like diet wasn't the right diet for me.
And it wasn't the right diet for me because it still included actually a lot of foods that I was highly intolerant to because there's a little bit of a difference between having a mild intolerance to obviously having a high intolerance like an antiepileptic shock kind of thing. So there's a long range of intolerances that you can have, but if you are still, you know, eating, let's say five to 10 to 15 foods that are deemed healthy and are really healthy, it's just not ever going to work for you, because you're still kind of whacking, you know, the hedgehog with a hammer on the head day after day after day.
Now, it can be really frustrating because when you're seemingly healthy and the only thing that you're dealing with infertility, you eliminate a lot because if you kind of do the normal thing of eliminating gluten, and dairy and sugar, it's a lot of our foods that we were eating before so we already feel like we've given up so much so to even have to go further and dig deeper is quite frustrating, but totally totally worth it.

So if this is you if you have been on a very clean eating lifestyle for quite a while and you're still not seeing the results. Obviously pregnancy and maintaining a healthy pregnancy is our number one result. We want to see that maybe you're still having underlining issues, and for me, it was still I got rid of like my bloating I got rid of a lot of my brain fog, you know, I got rid of a lot of things, but I was still having digestive issues. And I don't know why that was never highlighted with the health coach I was working with Maybe I was too embarrassed to tell him, I'm not sure. But looking back when I finally was like, Okay, I now have an autoimmune issue. You know, my immune suppressing drugs didn't work during our first frozen embryo transfer, where can I go to dig a little bit deeper with my diet and lifestyle, and it was the autoimmune paleo diet.
And that's when I discovered I was actually highly intolerant to a large number of nights shades, including paprika, and tomatoes, I would say when I cut those out about three weeks, it took for me to have no digestive issues. And it was I don't know, it was kind of a weird sensation, because I had lived with them for so long, that they just kind of became the norm to me. So not having them was like, Whoa, this is this is amazing. And obviously, you know, we went on to do two more frozen embryo transfers with immune suppressing drugs. And once again, it was a big mix of results, one became a beautiful baby boy, and one was an early miscarriage.
But when I continued on because I felt so healthy, I felt so good, I didn't have those digestive issues, I had so much energy, my hair, my skin, my nails, like everything I've just kept going. And I think this is another reason that you might feel like your fertility diet isn't working for you is because you haven't given it enough time. Ie all feel incredibly time poor, when we're dealing with infertility, especially if we have already, you know, gone three, four or five years with not seeing the results we want, we kind of feel like if the diet doesn't work within three months, then it's not worth it. And we need to move on to medical assistance. Now there is no you no shame in wanting to use medical assistance to maybe get to your ultimate goal a lot quicker.
But with diet and lifestyle, depending on your genetics, and how deep the root cause of your infertility is, is going to depend how much time you actually need to put into your diet and your lifestyle. Now, I know I've mentioned this a few times. And it's only until recently that it really dawned on me that when I got tested for my natural killer cells, I actually had been on the Paleo diet for almost a whole year, and my NK cells were still high enough to be detected and warranted, that that was a big issue and immune suppressing drugs needed to be had, I can't even imagine what my numbers would have been, you know, before my diet and my lifestyle changes. Now,

if I would have known I had high NK cells, and that I would have found my all my inflammatory foods at one time, I think it wouldn't have taken me so long to get to my ultimate goal. But at the same time, I think I would have really, really struggled to maintain a full autoimmune paleo diet right off the bat, because it is such an intense diet and meaning that you cut out so many foods. And when you have big issues, like infertility, like an autoimmune issue, you know, people kind of look at you and say,
Well, why wouldn't you just do it? And I think that's another reason why your fertility might not be working with you is because it comes down to your mindset. If you've already committed to a few or many diet changes in your life, you already know how hard it is to do it when you live in a society that you know kind of judges you for changing up your diet and also makes it extremely hard to resist temptation because it's everywhere. And even you know, food companies have gotten really smart and put gluten free or put vegan or whole 30 or whatever you want to kind of entice you into eating these pre packaged foods which can still have really hidden bad foods or oils or processes that do damage to you because you are dealing with some deep rooted issues and you just really need to be on a clean eating lifestyle. So you know how hard it is mentally to cut out a few things. And when that doesn't work, it gets frustrated you feel like Will, your diet doesn't work, but instead of going,
Okay, I've seen improvements I need to go this way, your mind and your old habits and your subconscious beliefs really start wreaking havoc and make it extremely hard to keep that belief that the diet is going to work, you maybe just need to figure out what the diet is for you keep the belief that the time you put in it, remember a little by little a little adds up. And when you work on your mindset during the diet changes, this can really, really improve how successful you are in keeping to the changes you want to make to improve your fertility. Health mindset has a huge impact on your stress levels too. So when you are able to really work on your mental health, you're able to reduce your stress levels, which will have a huge impact on your overall health.

I truly believe that if you are eating, let's say the perfect fertility diet for you, and you have not managed to manage your stress, it doesn't matter what you put into your mouth, because the stress will wreak that much havoc on your overall hormone system on your gut health on your digestive system on you know, everything.
So it's really important to improve your mindset while you're doing the fertility diet, not overwhelming. You don't want to overwhelm yourself with too many new things. But just always have it in the back of your mind that putting in little practices of mindset like meditation, affirmations, journaling, slowing down doing yoga, you know, just really giving yourself the tender loving care that we basically never really got taught to do is really, really vital to your fertility diet because it will support it and make that diet really just be able to do what it's there for nourish you heal your body and reconnect those fertility links. Those are my top three reasons that your fertility diet might not be working. So you might not be on the perfect fertility diet for you.
You might be feeling a little bit time pressed and you just haven't given it enough time and your mindset might be blocking you from not only sticking to the diet that's right for you, but your stress levels will counteract all the good nests that you are doing with your fertility diet.
