When you decide to start a family, various hurdles can get in the way. Some women have trouble getting pregnant due to stress or past traumatic events and don't even realise that it's impacting their fertility.
This blog post is taken from Fertility Faith
Learn how to identify your past trauma, which can be your missing link during your fertility journey - especially if you're dealing with known fertility issues or unexplained infertility. Experiencing trauma can have a dramatic effect on our bodies and our minds. The impact of past trauma on your fertility has a unique and powerful influence that can have far-reaching effects on your physical and mental health. That's why it's so important to address all aspects when you're dealing with infertility.
Your risk for mental and physical health problems from a past trauma goes up with the number of these events you've experienced. For example, your risk for problems is much higher if you've had three or more negative experiences, called adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), according to Andrea Roberts, a research scientist with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
These include:
physical abuse
sexual abuse
emotional abuse
physical neglect
emotional neglect
witnessing domestic violence
substance misuse within the household
mental illness within the household
parental separation or divorce
incarceration of a household member.
While severely traumatic events are believed to have the greatest effect on long-term health, other stressful events that don't necessarily meet the psychological definition of trauma can still cause problems. This might include a sudden death in the family, a stressful divorce, or caring for someone with a chronic or debilitating illness, says Roberts.
Traumatic events can leave you feeling unsafe & can disrupt your beliefs and assumptions about the world. No matter what type of trauma you've experienced, these events can have a big influence on your life and even manifest into physical issues that, over time, contribute to your fertility issues.
This is why exploring your past and rooting out any past traumatic [like] events is important to help explain some of the physical, mental & emotional issues you're dealing with today. Especially if you feel like you've done so much work & still feel "stuck".
Below, you'll see my example of my real-life timeline of traumatic [like] events that happened in my life & how I can now see why I had certain limiting beliefs & always seemed to self-sabotage myself.
In your downloads area, you'll find a blank timeline - map out your own experiences & start exploring your past.
